Let’s talk little, let’s talk the truth
You’ve just launched. Congratulations!
Your logo? Check.
Your SIRET (registration number)? Check.
Your website (under construction)? Almost.
And then there’s that all-important communication .
And then the survival reflex kicks in:
“I don’t have the time, I don’t have the skills, I’m going to delegate.”
Stop. Put down the phone. Can we talk about this for two minutes?
Because no , delegating your communication right away isn’t always a good idea . And I’m going to explain why, without fuss or jargon.
“Communications isn’t my thing, I have other things to do!”
Yes, we know: your thing is your core business.
But today, your real job is to make your business work .
And guess what?
If no one knows you exist, that you’re talented, committed, passionate… no one will come.
Communication isn’t a luxury. It’s a strategic necessity .
And no one can embody your message better than you .
You’re still looking for yourself (and that’s completely normal)
The first few months of starting a business aren’t always a bed of roses.
They’re more of a winding river, with rapids and eddies.
You think you know what you want to sell, to whom, and how.
And then you work with your first clients… and then, a revelation :
What you’re offering doesn’t necessarily match what people want. You need to adjust your positioning, your offer, your message.
And if you delegated your communication from the start, you risk having a nice Instagram account that no longer represents you .
What makes you unique is not your logo, it’s you.
Let’s be clear: what makes people choose you isn’t just what you sell.
It’s you , the way you talk about it, your values, your personality.
Do you want to be noticed?
Stop trying to « do what everyone else does. »
Start showing who you are . Your ideas, your little routines, your failures (yes, yes), your humor, your humanity.
It’s not narcissism, it’s sincere marketing .
People buy from people (not pretty visuals)
We talk a lot about trust.
But trust can’t be decreed. It’s built .
And for that, people need to connect with you .
They want to feel who you are, how you work, what you stand for. And you can’t trust that to someone who doesn’t live your daily life .
The connection is not created with inspirational quotes on a pastel background. It is created with a sincere tone , a presence, a regularity.
“But I already have a CM/the agency manages everything!”
Okay. It’s possible. But let me ask you a question:
Does what they post really sound like you ?
Do you recognize yourself in the visuals, the words, the atmosphere?
Or have you ever said this sentence (slightly tensely):
“It’s not really my style, but hey, it’s online…”
Here we are.
And the problem is, the longer you wait to take control, the more cumbersome it becomes . No access to models, no control over accounts, an image that doesn’t match you…
And then it becomes hell to catch up.
The strategy is YOU who must carry it out
A community manager isn’t a strategist.
They’re someone who implements a strategy . Yours. Not the one they dream up based on a 20-minute call.
If you want help implementing this strategy, you need a social media manager . And that requires time, listening, discussion, and testing.
In short: you can’t wash your hands of it.
Is the right time to get started? Now
You have time (a little), you have few clients (yet), you have space in your head (except when you’re anxious at night).
This is the perfect time to lay the foundations of your communication.
Your values. Your tone. Your key messages. What you want to show (and what you want to avoid). What you want to convey .
You do this once, calmly.
And then, when you’re ready to delegate, you know what to delegate, to whom , and in which direction .
In summary, what are the limits of delegating?
Don’t let someone else write your story .
Delegating your communication from the start means running the risk of:
- miss out on your brand identity
- not connecting with your real target
- waste time going back
Take your time. Ask yourself the right questions. Dare to show yourself. Even if it’s imperfect, it’s you . And that’s exactly what people want to see.
Need a helping hand to write your story, your way?
I’m here for that.
